Cummins 2021 Efficiency Series Engines

For 2021 Cummins will release new engines. All of the Efficiency Series engines will achieve peak torque at 950 rpm. Downspeeding is one of the tools to improve fuel use. This torque curve change helps the engines gain an impressive 3.5% fuel economy. This Series will have a new generation of EX engines, which are laser focused on Fuel Efficiency.

These engines will be coupled with an Endurant transmission, only. Additionally, they will be equipped with dynamic driving features to arrive at an additional 1.5% fuel economy improvement over their sister engines. Dynamic Driving features include:

  • Predicative Shifting: Uses look ahead data (GPS) to improve performance on hills

  • Predicative Braking: Uses look ahead data (GPS) and transmission interaction to better control speed on hills

  • Dynamic Power: Power adapts to route and vehicle load for improved fuel economy during easy drive cycles and adequate performance during difficult drive cycles.

Oil drain intervals will extend to 75,000 miles (100K with participation in the Oil Guard program). DPF service extends to 800,000 miles and can go beyond that by utilizing Fault Code 5383, which permits vehicle to be driven up to 20,000 before an engine de-rate would occur. Maintenance during the first 600,000 miles is touted as a 29% reduction in cost. All quoted numbers are dependent upon duty cycle and application.

And now….

Believe It OR Not

Each square inch of your cell phone contains roughly 25,000 germs, making it one of the filthiest things you come in contact with on a daily basis. If you’re washing your hands, and not your phone, you may be propagating something ugly.
