Specing single axle chassis without ATC is a mistake (unless a mechanical locker is spec’d).

ATC (Automatic Traction Control) is an inexpensive way to apply power to the non-spinning outer end to help keep from getting stuck. A spinning outer end can result in a spinout/lack of lube non-warrantable failure. A mechanical locker is best, but they are a bit pricey, and some drivers might not understand when to engage, if driver controlled. Some lock automatically, which is ideal, and takes the driver out of the equation.. OEM's should make ATC standard when lockers are not called for. Lockers and ATC don’t well together, thus the reason for turning ATC off during locked events.
