Specing 4S/4M on 6X4 Tractors or Trucks with ATC, is a mistake, even though all OEM's/Engineering/Suppliers allow it. 4S/4M meets RDS (Reduced Stopping Distance) which is everyone's focus.

ATC (Automatic Traction Control) is the culprit, coupled with driver education. 4S/4M exposes the fwd drive axle to a spinout/lack of lube, non-warrantable failure. OEM's should make 6S/6M standard with ATC. Everyone blames the axle manufacture, which is not their issue. It's the nature of open rear axle design and drivers who don't understand how these work.
