These configurations are built for Federal Highway,

7 axles = 80,000 lbs. GVWR.

Loading is as follows:  20K on the steer axle, 4,660 lbs. each of the lift axles, 34K on the drives… with and 12K on the stinger. The overall bridge (steer axle to stinger) is 36 feet.

More states than not are regulated at 40-foot overall length, bumper to mudflap on tag.  This setup optimizes for the maximum weight that can be carried within that package. Do not hang a fixed external tow pin, DOT will measure that extra 4-5” in length and you will exceed 40 feet.  Only use removable pins, the measurement includes only items that are fixed on the chassis.

These trucks are very common. Keep in mind that the stinger, flying tag, is expensive and must be installed in the aftermarket. If your customer isn’t concerned about the extra capacity the stinger adds (around 10,000 lbs.) consider a Simple 16. You can gross up to 70,000 lbs. with that configuration and the flying tag is eliminated. And now...
